Gene therapy involves introducing genetic material into a patient's cells to treat or prevent a disease. It can work by replacing a faulty gene with a healthy one adding a new gene or modifying existing genes. This is often achieved using vectors like modified viruses which act as carriers to deliver the therapeutic gene to the target cells.
