Gene therapy in dentistry

Advances in understanding and manipulating genes have set the stage for scientists to alter patients genetic material to fight or prevent diseases. Gene therapy can still be considered in infancy stage and with increased patho-physiological understanding and bio-technological improvements it will become a standard part of clinicians armamentarium for treating various hereditary or acquires disorders including those affecting the oral cavity.
