Y. and his own branch of the family being few in number he saw few Of our name but through the public journals learned that whether there were few or many Of us the name was widely spread.<br><br>Naturally he desired to know more Of the history Of his race. His grandfather could only go back to his own grandfather Robert who came from Long Island N. Y. to Stamford Conn. about 1739. Tradition gave us the Old story that three brothers said to have come from Wales emigrated to America a short time before the American Revolution. TO this was added the further fiction that one Of them settled at Saybrook Conn. a second at New Rochelle N. Y. and the third at Montgomery Orange county N.
