The method of sequence stratigraphy developed by the petroleum industrie covers a great portion of the 30 contributions of this volume. Most of them are focused on investigations to the stratigraphic and tectonic en- vironment but also the quantitativ restoration by using balanced sections is applied. Contributions from east and southeast Europe provide important information about their oil and gas reservoirs.
