The current study primarily aims at investigating the way Yezidi sacred literature is classified and the metre and rhythm which are used in different religious texts. Additionally it is to show all the literary aspects in the different texts which are analysed according to Finnegan’s and other scholars of oral tradition and folklore theories that follow different criteria in classifying traditional literature into different types. Some of religious people and knowledgeable persons’ perspectives have been taken into consideration of the way these texts are categorised to know their views about the way of classifying such texts. The methodology that has been utilised in this research study is formal and thematic analysis side by side with Yezidi emic traditions of classification. Religious texts have been analysed side by side with the usage of the semi-structured interviews. Abrahams Finnegan and Bauman theories have been used to analyse different poetic genres of the Yezidi religious literature.
