Geo-serriculture in the Tunisian oasis territory

Integrated in an oasis territory crops irrigated and heated by geothermal water have continued to revive agricultural activity in southern Tunisia and are of great economic and social importance. Nevertheless after several years of intensive exploitation a clear regression of the exploited areas has been noted particularly in the region of Tozeur. The diagnosis of the situation of this production system carried out during this study highlighted problems related to the cultivation techniques adopted soil salinization and phytosanitary problems in particular pest attacks.
