Georgian small HPP

About The Book

Georgia is considered to be rich in water resources. Theoretical hydropower potential of the rivers of Georgia is 136 GWh per year i.e. 1943 MWh in 1 km2 of territory of the country per year. Technical hydropower potential of the country's rivers is estimated as 85 GWh per year. The small HPPs are well adapted to environmental conditions. They greatly support social-economic development of the peripheral districts of the country. Despite great supplies of Georgia's potential hydro resources only 15% of technical hydropower potential is used currently. As for the part of electricity generated by small HPPs with respect to technical hydropower potential it is 65%. Data provided in the present work is collected processed and systematized by authors in the study of hydroelectric units hydro-mechanical and electrotechnical devices of hydropower plants of Georgia in 2017-2018. The aim of the work is to acquaint the reader with the actual energy characteristics of small HPPs of Georgia to get an idea of the potential development of hydropower.
