COMPLIMENT This is an exhaustivae and extremely well written researched and sourced non- fiction book on the Ghadar Movement to free India from the British rule in the early 20 th century. The Ghadar movement had a massive impact on the Indian Freedom struggle but because it was a revolutionary movement and largely a Punjabi one at that (in terms of most of its members who were also Sikhs) but the Ghadarites were whitewashed from the Indian freedom struggle narrative in favour of Gandhi and the Indian National Congress. The Ghadarites sacrifices were completely obliterated by the sacrifices made by the Gandhi and Nehru and they have been largely written out of the independence narrative of India largely because they were revolutionaries and predominantly Sikhs. This is an essential English language work on the Ghadar Movement and extremely welt researched being largely built upon PhD thesis.
