Gladiolus is one of the commercial cut flowers which can be grown in open for exporting spikes to European countries. Gladiolus (Gladiolus grandiflora L.) commonly called sword lilly or corn flag in the seventh most important flowers of the world. Gladiolus is native of South Africa belonging to family Iridaceae. The term gladiolus was coined by Pliny and Elder (A.D. 23 - 79) to describe the shape of the leaves which resemble that of sword. Corn Flag is the another name in the Europe because Gladiolus illyricus is found as a wild weed in the corn fields. Gladiolus is very popular bulbous flowering plant. It is considered as Queen of bulbous plants. Gladiolus is classified on the basis of size of flowers in Asia i.e. grandiflorus primulinus butterfly and miniature.The present investigation revealed that in general growth regulators were effective in increasing yield and quality of gladiolus. On the basis of present studies it can be concluded that in respect of cultivation of gladiolus corm soaking treatment of GA3 at 200 ppm was effective for enhancing growth flowering quality and yield of spike and corms.
