<p><em>Loyalty vs. betrayal. Forgiveness vs. judgment. Acceptance vs. rejection. </em></p><p>At St. Phillip's Church a conflict centering on these complex values starts to brew among parishioners threatening to disrupt the traditional conservative nature of the congregation.Newly ordained Episcopal priest Sarah Piper has come to Philadelphia eager to lead her congregants as their first female pastor. Carrying a deep sense of personal guilt stemming from the death of her younger sister Sarah compensates with a relentless drive to do good but finds forgiveness for herself and others elusive. Early on she is challenged by a powerful misogynistic church leader who seeks to control a hiring decision that would benefit his own corrupt goals. When tensions and issues amongst St. Phillips' congregants start to boil over Sarah must wrestle with her own unorthodox approach to Christianity and what faith means to her.</p><p>Set amidst the backdrop of the Episcopalian Church's struggle with sanctifying same-sex marriage<em> Gnosis</em> is the story of everyday people affected by church politics and personal moral dilemmas. </p>
