Goat Farmers Perception and Mitigation Strategies to Climate Change

It has been established that climate change has direct effects on livestock productivity as well as indirectly through changes on the availability of fodder and pastures. It determines the breeds of livestock most adapted to different agro-ecological zones and therefore the animals that are able to sustain rural communities. Nigeria as a developing nation is particularly sensitive to the effects of climate change. A large part of the economy of the country depends on natural resources which are particularly vulnerable to climate change.
