GOATS FROM PASTURES TO TABLE

Goats are raised principally for their milk meat fiber and skin. In ancient Rome these animals played an important role in agriculture as still do in the Minor and Central Asia and Mongolia. Until the early 20th century goats had often been used for towing. Surprisingly strong goats dragged carriages or wagons. In case some larger and stronger animals were not available they were used for plowing. Nowadays in Tibet goats are used for salt transportation.The presence of goats in the primordial human community is confirmed by the drawings of goats found on the walls of some caves from this period. It is usually assumed that the domestication rapidly led to morphological changes in the skeleton of these animals such as their horns and their smaller size.
