The story revolves around the eponymous character Godfrey Morgan a wealthy and adventurous young man from San Francisco. Accompanied by his French tutor Professor T. Artelett and his faithful servant Jacques Godfrey embarks on a leisurely voyage aboard the Franklin a ship bound for France. However their journey takes an unexpected turn when a series of events leads to Godfrey and his companions being abandoned on a deserted island in the Pacific Ocean. Stranded and left to their own devices they must rely on their resourcefulness and survival skills to overcome the challenges of their newfound isolation. As they navigate the island Godfrey Professor Artelett and Jacques encounter various dangers including hostile animals treacherous terrain and the constant struggle for food and shelter. Along the way they also come across the remnants of a previous inhabitant indicating that they are not the first to be marooned on the island. As the story unfolds the trios resilience and ingenuity are put to the test as they strive to escape their island prison and return to civilization. Their adventures involve encounters with indigenous tribes encounters with dangerous wildlife and the discovery of a hidden treasure.
