<p><em>Good Sport Sammy</em> is a boy who discovers the true meaning of friendship and empathy through self-reflection.</p><p>After his birthday weekend Sammy Cordova brings a new game called Shooting Stars to school to play with friends. After cheating to win he has difficulty finding anyone who wants to play with him.</p><p><em>“Each time he played he won. As he did before he threw his arms up in the air and giggled “That’s a big win for me!”</em></p><p><em>“Soon Sammy had trouble finding anyone who wanted to play with him. He sat alone during choice time.</em></p><p><em>“Looking around he noticed Aaron and Mandy working on a science experiment. Leo and William were building a tower of Legos. Nathaniel worked on a puzzle. Yvette and Yvonne were reading. Everyone was playing with someone. Everyone but Sammy.</em></p><p><em>“Sammy was sad. His smile was gone. He felt lonely.”</em></p><p>With the help of his school counselor Miss Bee Sammy learns the true magic of friendship is caring more about your friends than winning.</p><p><strong>(About the Author)</strong></p><p>An elementary school counselor in Washington State Louise Chiprut Berman holds a B.A. from the University of Washington in Law Societies and Justice and an M. Ed. with a K-12 School Counseling endorsement. The author has been an active member with the Washington School Counselor Association as elementary VP ethics committee chair and received the 2013 Counselor of the Year award. This is her first children’s book.</p>
