About The Book

A Room with a View The Divine Comedy The vision of hell. The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet and The Portrait of a Lady — Volume 1 are among the Greatest Books from Italy included in this set. In the Edwardian era of English culture a young woman is the subject of the novel A room with a view. The story which takes place in both Italy and England is a romantic comedy that also makes fun of early 20th-century English society. A room with a view of the river Arno was promised to Lucy Honeychurch and her cousin when they travelled to Florence Italy but they were instead given a room that looked out onto a drab courtyard. The two women are given a room by Mr. Emerson and his son George that has a lovely outlook. Dante Alighieris The Divine Comedy Volume 1: Inferno is an acclaimed translation from the Italian with an introduction by Mark Musa. It maintains all the style force and significance of the original. The straightforward organic flow of Dantes Inferno is preserved in this forceful translation which also successfully reflects the quick-paced original Italian verse. The voyage through the circles of hell as described by Mark Musa in blank verse recreates for the present reader the deep connotations that Dantes poem had for his contemporaries. The text is magnificently illuminated by Musas introduction and remarks on each of the cantos. The vision of hell. - This book which was first published before 1923 is a copy of a significant historical work that follows the same formatting guidelines as the original. Although some publishers have chosen to use OCR (optical character recognition) technology we believe this produces less-than-ideal results (regular typographical errors odd characters and muddled formatting) and inadequately preserves the historical integrity of the original document. We think that this work in its original archival form has cultural significance. Even while we try hard to properly clean and digitally improve the original work there are occasionally situations when flaws like blurry or missing pages bad photographs or errant marks may have been introduced because of the original works quality or the scanning process. In Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare the long-running conflict between the Montague and Capulet families upheaves Verona and has tragic consequences for Romeo and Juliet. The young star-crossed lovers must mature swiftly due to revenge love and a secret marriage; unfortunately fate forces them to attempt suicide out of desperation. Romeo and Juliet one of Shakespeares most well-known romantic tragedies is replete with contrast and conflict-related themes. The Portrait of a Lady tells the tale of Isabel Archer a determined young American woman who finds it difficult to confront her destiny. She receives a sizable inheritance and later falls prey to the Machiavellian plotting of two American expats. It takes place in Europe primarily in England and Italy like many of James works. This work which is frequently to the detriment of the former displays James ongoing fascination with the distinctions between the Old World and the New. It is widely regarded as the masterpiece of his early career. Additionally it deals profoundly with the concepts of individual autonomy accountability and betrayal.
