He graduated from Mercersburg Academy and then suffered an unexplained bout of blindness which resolved itself in time for him to attend Princeton from 1913-1917 where he was a close friend of F. Scott Fitzgerald who summered with Bishop in Charles Town. After a decade spent in France Bishop returned to the United States with his wife and three sons and worked for a variety of publications. He died in Hyannis Massachusetts in 1944.</p>
