Green Packaging: An Eco-Friendly Approach Towards Sustainable Development

Ecological sustainability is one of the recent topics which are discussed by all the tycoon of the corporate policy makers academicians and every citizens of the country over the past decade. It’s only because of the threatening atmosphere which persists around the globe that made the earth suffer irreversible side effect such as deep climatic changes and depletion of natural resources. This rising concern for environmental protections has brought eco- consciousness among the customers. Hence the purchasing behaviour of any consumer is based on its packages particularly product with green packaging. It is the tool for protecting the environment for the future generation. In this study the researcher is aimed at identifying the awareness of the consumers regarding green packaging and their practice towards sustainable development in coastal villages of Kanyakumari District. The coastal adult population is 112033.Since the population is definite the researcher used Taro Yamane scientific formula for sample determination. Therefore the total sample respondents are 399.The researcher has adopted proportionate stratified random sampling technique and by following lottery method the data is collected with the help of village administrative officer in each village through interview schedule.
