About The Book

Chronic consumption of excess fluoride above the WHO limit of 1.5mg/L might lead to dental and in extreme cases skeletal and crippling fluorosis. This book aims to illustrate the study results found when screening fluoride presence and investigating its probable sources in suspected high fluorotic areas in southwestern Zimbabwe. It was found out that 40% of 220 groundwater samples contained fluoride above WHO limit. Thirty-five percent (35%) out of 467 pupils examined had dental fluorosis with an average prevalence rate of 65%.Geology played a major role in influencing the groundwater quality. These analysis is mainly targeted for the groundwater resources and treatment climate change and public health and low cost technology developers.
