Dr. Rohrbacher At Age 18 Was Sent To Korea To Participate In The Occupation Of Thatportion Of The Country Below The 38 Parallel. The Russian Army Occupied The Northernportion Of The Country. Eventually These Halves Of Korea Became Known As North And South Korea. The First Job Of The United States Occupation Forces Was To Repatriate All Thejapanese Military And Civilian Personnel Back To Their Home Islands And In Turnbring Back To Korea Any Korean Nationals Who Happened To Be In Japan. This Action Completely Upset The Economic Structure Of Korea. The Japanese Had Occupied Korea For Nearly 40 Years And Held All Managementpositions Down To And Including The Third And Fourth Tier. In The North The Russians Who Had Been Our Allies During The Defeatof Germany Did Everything They Could To Disrupt Theeconomy And Civil Order Of The South. They Sent Agents Into The South Bent Onkilling United States Soldiers And In The Process Made Life Forthe Occupation Forces As Untenable As Possible. The Author Was Assigned To The 51St Military Police Battalion Based In Inchon And Ascom City Including Kimpoair Field. He Was In The S-2 (Intelligence) Section Of The Battalion.
