About the Book: Paddy cultivation in India plays a crucial role in the country's agricultural landscape contributing significantly to both food security and the rural economy. Over the years the area dedicated to paddy farming has expanded with major states like West Bengal Punjab and Uttar Pradesh leading in production. Advances in agricultural practices including the adoption of high-yielding varieties and improved irrigation techniques have enhanced productivity allowing farmers to achieve greater outputs per hectare. Additionally government initiatives and subsidies have supported farmers in overcoming challenges related to climate change and resource management. Despite these advancements regional disparities in productivity persist highlighting the need for targeted policies and practices that promote sustainable growth across diverse agro-climatic zones. Understanding the dynamics of area production and productivity is essential for formulating strategies that ensure the continued growth and sustainability of paddy cultivation in India. Present book analyses the different aspects of growth of paddy production it examines the area production and productivity of paddy and it also analyses the different issues empirically with the help of microstudies. About the Author: Dewashish Kumar M.A. Ph.D. in Economics is an assistant professor (Need Based/Contractual) in the Department of Economics Degree College Jharia Binod Bihari Mahto Koyalanchal University Dhanbad (Jharkhand) since 2nd Sep 2024. He has contributed several research papers to international national and regional journals and conferences. His research interests are agriculture sector rural development and social sector. He is currently working in the fields of agriculture cultivation and agriculture marketing. He also worked on major and minor research projects as a research assistant in the field of agriculture and tribes. Dr. Dewashish is teaching Theory of Micro & Macro Economics Theory of Growth and Development International Economics Statistical Method and Mathematical & Econometrics courses.
