<p>The short-story also known as afsaana is one of the most important literary subgenres in Urdu literature despite its relative youth. This piece was influenced by western and literary concepts and tendencies as well as the contemporary industrial and mechanized environment. Along with evolving ideas about what it is to live it has come to terms with the shifting subjects and literary techniques that have appeared over time. This book Gum-Shuda Log (The missing people) collects a selection of short stories from contemporary Urdu fiction that were written by Urdu fiction writer Mubeen Mirza.</p><p><br></p>
