<P>This volume examines halakha and the challenge of the Israeli sovereignty. It traces the use and collective recognition of halakhic sources from the late 19th century to the first decades of the establishment of the State of Israel and sheds light on the pliable nature of halakha particularly in conjunction to the notion of sovereignty.</P>
