Soil Microbiology is a very important field which deals with biogeochemical processes. This field is responsible for element circulation transformation of phosphorus form. Soil has to play many vital roles for the environment and to maintain ecological processes. Agriculture has a strong impact on soil and it also has a strong impact on soil microorganisms these soil microorganisms are responsible for the mineralization of organic matter. Supporting the natural biological processes without disturbing the natural environment is known as sustainable agriculture in this we will lose the external soil layer and some crop residues are left. These left crop residues also play a role in soil nutrient management. There are two different types of farming first is conventional and the second is intensive farming. Conventional farming is also known as traditional farming. In this handbook we discuss the importance of soil and soil microbes their effect on nature and human life as well as we also discuss the different types of bacteria and fungi present in the soil.
