HANDBOOK OF THE CATHOLIC PRESS 1900-2019

This book borders on a subculture of the press in Nigeria: the Catholic Press. It is therefore a welcome intervention in an area of study that has been largely neglected in the literature of the Catholic Church and in religious propagation in general. In academia in Nigeria there is a dearth of local books relevant to our local environment and through which we can search and understand ourselves. This modest attempt is devised to bridge the chasm. The book treats the Evolution of the Catholic Press in Nigeria drawing lessons from history and examining the roles of the founding fathers of the Catholic Press in Nigeria. It points at successful models of Catholic Press. This book is certainly one of the most important present-day publications on the Catholic Press in Nigeria. However its relevance lies not only in the Nigerian context but also in the church in Africa and indeed for the church in the developing nations.
