Harlem Heaven

<p>Because some authors couldn't imagine what might be unacceptable</p><p>a century later certain classics need to be rewritten for current</p><p>consumption. This I have done initially with a retitling that I think more</p><p>accurately defines its subject. Anybody misreading the following text</p><p>anybody seeing words that aren't there should be socially ostracized</p><p>if not treated for dementia. One stylistic departure to appreciate is his</p><p>decision to eliminate quotation marks. (At least one commentator credits</p><p>Van Vechten with completely eschewing italics but their occasional</p><p>appearance in the text itself refutes this claim.)</p>
