Hay Rake V1 N7 March 1921

About The Book

Now after over one hundred years reprints of Arch Bristow's Hay Rake Magazine are available. Self-Published by Arch Bristow from his home in Garland PA beginning in 1920 it started modestly at 1000 copies but quickly grew to a subscription rate of 20000.Arch was a cartoonist by trade with the syndicated cartoon strip Zimmie. In the early 1900s. His drawing skill paid off well for Arch later as he drew many of the illustrations and ads in the magazine and the covers. It was classic Americana from our area. His writing was humorous and likely based on the local folks in the Spring Creek Garland and Youngsville areas. These cleaned-up reprints not only read better than those old brown-stained 100-year-old originals but you can turn the pages and they do not fall apart. Start your collection now as I will be reproducing as many issues of the Hay Rake as I can find.
