HEALING BEYOND INVISIBLE WOUNDS

Every day women seek help for visible pain but also for invisible wounds: fear silence humiliation... Domestic violence one of the most widespread forms of violence in the world leaves deep scars. General practitioners can identify them on the front line but many come up against invisible obstacles. Through a study carried out in Yaoundé Cameroon this book reveals a striking reality: almost half of doctors lack knowledge more than two-thirds hesitate or minimize and the vast majority adopt inadequate practices. These obstacles stem from a lack of training organizational constraints and the weight of cultural taboos. Combining scientific rigor and first-hand experience this book sheds light on these challenges and suggests concrete ways to improve the detection and care of victims. Aimed at professionals researchers decision-makers and the general public it invites us to look beyond the invisible wounds and build a more attentive and protective healthcare system.
