HEAVY WATER QUEST: The Inspiring Journey of a Nuclear Engineer from a RemoteVillage to Receiving the Prestigious Padma Shri Award

The idea for this book germinated in December 2022 when a few like-minded authors who were also alums of the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) came together under the stewardship of Mr. V. B. Parvetekar and Dr. Prasad T. L. Gupta and formed a group called the NITK Authors Corridor. Through the Authors Corridor platform the group wants to share original and motivational stories with the global audience and revitalize and fortify the storytelling tradition among NITK alums. The NITK Authors Corridor set out on a mission to document the inspirational stories of NITK alums who have accomplished incredible feats in their disciplines and pass on their legacy to the younger generation. Over the past seven decades NITK which was established in 1965 has transformed into one of India’s top technical education institutions. Its strength is not only in its academic achievements but also in its vast global network of over 30000 accomplished alums from various fields. After giving it some thought the group decided that a biography would be the best storytelling format. A biography can create a strong emotional connection and turn the reader into an active participant in the story through its chronological account of the protagonist’s life experiences.
