Henri Rapin (1873-1939) is a prime example of the artist-decorator of the early 20th century. Although little-known today he was nevertheless a major player in the revival of the decorative arts and the creation of a French modern style. Painting illustration ceramics glassware tapestries and furniture are all areas in which Henri Rapin provided models for the renewal of forms. This book presents his artistic career through an analysis of his stylistic development and his active role in the construction and dissemination of a new decorative style. It provides an opportunity to better understand the mutation between the two major movements of Art Nouveau and Art Deco.
