A play about madness that has both comic and tragic elements it is about a person who believes themselves to be the Holy Roman Emperor. An Italian aristocrat falls of his horse while playing the role of Henry IV during carnevale festivities which take place annually before Lent. He comes to and believes himself to be Henry.
