Herb of Grace

One day Malcolm meets a young woman named Grace Fenwick. Grace is a beautiful and intelligent young woman but she is also very poor. Malcolm is drawn to Grace's kindness and selflessness and they quickly fall in love.However Malcolm's aunt and uncle do not approve of Grace. They believe that she is not good enough for Malcolm and they try to persuade him to break up with her. Malcolm refuses and he and Grace are married in secret.After their marriage Malcolm and Grace move to a small cottage in the countryside. They are happy together but they struggle financially. Malcolm's law practice is not very successful and Grace has to work as a seamstress to make ends meet.One day Malcolm receives a letter from a wealthy client who is offering him a job. The client is living in a foreign country and he wants Malcolm to come and work for him. Malcolm is reluctant to leave Grace but he knows that the job is a good opportunity for him. He accepts the job and he and Grace say goodbye.Malcolm is successful in his new job and he becomes a wealthy man. However he misses Grace terribly. He writes to her often but he does not hear back from her.One day Malcolm receives a letter from a friend who tells him that Grace is ill. Malcolm rushes home to be with her. He finds that Grace is suffering from a terminal illness. She is weak and frail but she is still radiant.
