Herbal Folk Medicine in Egypt

Medicinal plants are a source of hope for rural dwellers who most of the time cannot meet the ever increasing cost of modern medicine. The researchers directed to search in the nature to find different plants with effective indigenous herbal medicines to be used in the treatment of various diseases. Currently herbal medicines are used to treat a wide range of illnesses including diarrhea diabetes hypertension allergies asthma eczema premenstrual syndrome rheumatoid arthritis irritable bowel syndrome and cancer. The recent studies aimed to evaluate the biologically active products isolated from suitable and available plants to be used in the medicinal field as antioxidants against different diseases. These constituents were safe and available with suitable price for patients.
