Hesychasm as a cultural historical and theological phenomenon

It is necessary to specify the disciplinary boundaries of our study. The identification of the philosophical-psychological and religious-theological content of the subjects of interest to us should not be overshadowed by numerous historical and philological aspects of it which have important scientific significance but which do not relate directly to this problematics. The phenomenon of Byzantine Hesychasm has been repeatedly reviewed from various aspects: historical political philological theological. Gratefully using the potential accumulated in science we will have to concentrate on the philosophical themes of this most complex phenomenon in the spiritual life of mankind. And especially - on its role and significance in the formation of an original Russian philosophy. In philosophical terms the greatest interest is the influence of Hesychasm on Russian culture and thinking of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries emphasizes M.N. Gromov.
