Historiae Philippicae

<p><i>Historiae Philippicae</i> or Philippic History is a historical work by the Roman historian Marcus Junianus Justinus. It is a selection of excerpts from the much longer <i>Historiae Philippicae et totius mundi origines et terrae situs</i> written by Pompeius Trogus during the time of Augustus. While Trogus's original work is now lost Justinus's epitome survives and provides valuable insight into the history of the ancient world.</p><p>Justinus's history primarily focuses on the rise and fall of various empires and kingdoms including the Macedonian Empire under Philip II and Alexander the Great offering a compelling narrative of conquest political intrigue and cultural exchange.
