History and Architecture

The problem we face in this research has several dimensions since in the first place although a few works have been carried out regarding the influence of Islam in Latin America so it is not a completely unpublished branch of studies most of them refer to the history of art and no work has ever been done linking the urbanism of a Mexican city with medieval Islamic urbanism.Secondly the urbanistic analyses included in this work contain a specific methodology: firstly the examination of bibliographic and archaeological sources as well as the study of the city''s roads together with the incorporation of the observation of both ancient cartographies and the data provided by geographic information systems which allows the study of the city to be integral and multimethodical although it is more complex.
