History and methodology of literary studies

This textbook explores and systematizes the material reflecting the centuries-long history of the development of world literary studies. The time span is from the ancient period to the present day. Special attention is paid to the history of the development of literary studies in the Middle Ages including the East. The textbook includes the history of the emergence and formation of some Eastern genres which have not received full coverage so far. Considerable attention is also paid to the methodology of literary studies.
