About The Book

This research is a historical account of the cognitive sciences such as Artificial Intelligence; behaviourist psychology; neuropsychology and areas of neuroscience such as neuroanatomy and neurophysiology; and the philosophy of mind. It also seeks to emphasise the relationship between physical processes and cognitive processes. Based on a historical narrative of the cognitive sciences it discusses materialist perspectives that aim to emphasise: the relationship between neural and cognitive systems; the evolutionary traits that have been significantly important for neuroanatomy and neurophysiology and for the whole process of consciousness formation. In this way I rely on the theoretical contribution above all of Alexander Luria; Antonio Damásio; Bears Connors & Paradiso; Howard Gardner; Paul M. Churchland; Roberto Lent; Steven Pinker among others.
