Christians shy away from the doctrine because of its seeming complexity. Yet it is the most fundamental truth of their faith and of reality. It tells us what God is like why we live how to be happy. Rightly understood it makes sense of our everyday experience and the experience of humanity. The book asks and addresses tough questions: is the doctrine contradictory? what about science? evil and suffering? Incredibly we see precursors of the truth in the three kinds of pre-Christian religions: the cyclic-mystical of India the unity-in-multiplicity of China and the historical-linear of Israel. In the end it is only because of the Trinity that we can truly say that love is the ultimate reality.
