Homicide

Carefully organized and edited the 25 contributions to this sourcebook cover the major issues in social research concerning homicide. The authors are leading scholars each in a particular research area who have provided comprehensive summaries of the current state of knowledge for the subject of their expertise. Together the chapters provide an ideal reference for readers interested in cutting edge'' knowledge about homicide issues. Most of the authors are from the Homicide Research Working Group the core researchers in the field. Their work deals with social theories of homicide; methodological issues; problems such as gangs serial murders alcohol and drugs homicides by youths and domestic homicides; and proposed solutions having to do with the death penalty guns control public health programs and community responses/involvement. In an important concluding chapter the editors tackle the subject of unresolved problems and issues in the study of homicide.
