Housing Policy in the New Millennium Proceedings

<p>This article presents an overview of the topic of housing rehabilitation and American cities. It is intended for further discussion at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD's) conference Housing Policy in the New Millennium.<br>This topic is particularly appropriate to the conference and session because:<br><br>(1) rehabilitation of the existing housing stock is a critical activity in urban locations; (2) there are significant barriers to such renovation in cities and (3) progress is being made to address the many barriers.</p><p>This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
