How the Gospel of John Saved Christianity

In the Christian scriptures salvation was the central the message of Jesus of Nazareth. What was it who was saved and how was one saved? The context for the proclamation of salvation was primarily established in Jesus’ preaching about the kingdom of God. This concept was as we shall see very much an earthly this-life concern. Over the centuries however the Christian Church directed the matter salvation to the after-life: who will be saved and who will be damned. Indeed it is hard not to see today within Christianity especially among Roman Catholics and Evangelicals that the chief matter of salvation does indeed center on one’s fate after death.
