Humanism and Tagore: A Mystico-spiritual Interpretation

The present work analyses the concept of Humanism as reflected in the thoughts of Rabindranath Tagore. Humanism has a faith in the dignity of human being and believes that it can reach the ideal of perfection. It is a story of human development in its external as well as internal or spiritual endeavour. Humanists point out that the human values have the greatest significance in the realm of worldly values. The concept of humanism enables man to recognize his status in the society not as an object but as a subject having ample scope to vindicate his existence. Humanist philosophers give so much importance to human beings that they can be compared with the Universal personality.
