Hungry Forest

Writing on war with author Nguyen Trong Luan is like looking at the back of a medal. The work is full of lively details. But it doesn’t make us feel confused. Because its “red string” is very outstanding - fighting optimism the joy of living passionate affection for the homeland. At the last page of the novel “Hungry Forest” all the hardship hunger and death seem to pass by. For me only the victorious smiles of ordinary but great soldiers remained. That’s the success of the writer who wore the soldier’s uniform: Nguyen Trong Luan. (Literary Critic Bui Viet Thang)
