<p>In the 1980s and 90s Dail Bridges worked in the Bering Sea north of Alaska and in the waters surrounding New Zealand as a Foreign Fisheries Observer. She lived aboard Japanese and Soviet fishing trawlers for months at a time working side by side with the crew. This book is not a story that is very much about fish though there is that. Instead it is mostly about doing something that you've never done before for which nothing can prepare you and all that this brings with it.</p>
