Ideology Power and the Text: A Study of Postmodern American Fiction

Politics and power do infiltrate literary productions. Literature does in most cases generate an ideological perspective favoring politics and promoting power or even resisting power and opposing to it as a revolting medium. It can as well be an honest reflection to the societal different discursive conditions. And that is why literature has always been a controversial notion. Although it is assumed that literature is a universal product which it is indeed in many cases it is also suggested to be a tool for breeding violence faking awareness and spreading prejudices. Eventually what is a literary text if not an accumulation of life experiences of particular cultural background and of a historical reference!
