About The Book

Getting a second opinion changed my life forever! Seizures - Sex - Life - Depression -Love - Survivor I put together a book about my life with Epilepsy and seizures shortly after having neuro surgery in Dec 2002. The surgery I had was called Left Selective Amygdalohippocampectomy; it was an 8 hour procedure that I underwent at the U of A Hospital in Edmonton Alberta Canada. The original story I had typed up on my computer was very simple seemed almost to basic so I sat down a couple years later and decided to revamp my story but not to make it a sad feel sorry for me book but one that would give people hope and motivation and that is what I am hoping to achieve from this If Walls Could Talk. My life with seizures started when I was 2 years old and continued into my 30s even though I have been 110% seizure free since the surgery I have never really let go of my life with seizures. I have had the privilege of speaking at Epilepsy forums been on television twice and have taken on different volunteer roles in the Epilepsy field all of this since my surgery. Being able to speak to others about my experience has lead me to avenues I would never have thought would be possible. Even having one person come up to me to say thanks for your story would mean the world to me. This book covers everything from my childhood with seizures my surgery different medications I was on the depression that I fell into after my surgery myths about Epilepsy and one of the more interesting topics so I have been told is the one on Sex and Seizures. My whole goal with this book is to let others know that they are not alone that there is hope and there are other people out there in the world that know where you are coming from. There is a section in the book that has several of the comments from my online epilepsy support group I love getting positive and up lifting emails and those are the ones I chose to share with you. This whole book only came about for me because one day I decided to go get a second opinion to see if maybe there was another option for me and as you can see from where I stand today that decision I made changed my life forever. I just hope that others who are living with Epilepsy or have friends and family that are know that they arent alone. Ann Marie Gillie
