In January of 1944 the United States was preparing for its France. Raymond an aviation cadet in the Army Air Corps was in his final months of training at NC State College in Raleigh NC. In November he returned to Europe. But not to Northern Ireland where his fiancée impatiently awaited from her home in Belfast. Since mid-July of 1943 they had neither seen nor spoken to one another.
