Illegal appropriation of space in Africa

Starting with qualitative research semi-structured interviews interacted from August 2 to October 30 2021 with 62 individuals ranging in age from 34 to 70. These social actors were selected using the purposive sampling technique. The discourses produced are based on the theory of Garett J. Hardin (1968). Indeed this theoretical approach describes the phenomenon of unsparing overexploitation of a common resource by a given social group creating a risk of extermination of land resources in a given space. Thus the results show that the relocation operation of the Kassaraté neighborhood by the Société Générale des Travaux de Développement is perceived by the social actors as a good thing. This concept refers to three main representational logics: land security for both landowners and lot purchasers; development of the neighborhood; and improved living conditions (servicing access to drinking water electricity etc.). The study also shows that several issues (economic political social cultural etc.) underlie this project.
