Over the last decade interest in the use of imagingtechnologies during radiotherapy has increaseddramatically as the need for minimizing geometricuncertainties during highly conformal radiationdeliveries became apparent. Due to this manyinnovative in-room imaging technologies for treatmentguidance has been developed and translated in todaily clinical use. However with this rise ininterest has also sparked the need to evaluate andunderstand the optimal use of such technologies forcancer treatment. With a focus on prostate cancer asan example this book therefore aims to provide theaudience with systematic evaluation of varioustechnologies used during radiotherapy for treatmentguidance. Using modern evaluation tools such asdeformable image registration convolution andradiobiologic indices the potential benefits ofin-room imaging technologies during radiotherapy isdemonstrated.
