About The Book

The research work was carried out at the Porcinetic farm located in the El Triunfo canton. The project was divided into two treatments with 20 male piglets in each group in which two different castration techniques were applied in male piglets. The objective of the research work was to evaluate the effects of surgical castration versus immunocastration comparing weight gain in male piglets. At the end of the research work in an analysis of the results obtained during the research it was determined that the best method to be used is immunocastration since the group of this treatment obtained a higher weight gain in a time of 12 weeks of age low mortality rate and a higher profitability since in the final weight of the research time a difference of 2.34 kg of weight was obtained in contrast to surgical castration which is very favorable for the productive parameters of a swine production being also very recommendable for the health and welfare of the production animals.
